Jackson Pollock

born: Cody, Wyoming; 28 January 1912
died: Springs, Long Island, New York; 11 August 1956 (car accident)

Pollock's pictures tend to be big... wall size. They tend to dwarf you and encapuslate you in them. No web reproduction (or book reproduction) can evoke the same sense of being in the "presence" of a Pollock picture in a museum. Not that they couldn't be reproduced, they can, but the technology to do it is expensive. Just try and imagine yourself being dwarfed by these pictues to get a better sense of what is going on.
